CANADIAN OATMEAL DROP COOKIES

Ingredients:
All purpose flour - 2 cups (sifted)
Sugar - 1 cup
Baking soda - 1 tsp
Cinnamon powder - 1 tsp
Salt - 1/2 tsp
Shortening - 1 cup
Chopped nuts - 1 cup
Uncooked rolled oats - 2 1/2 cups
Grated lemon peel - -1/2 tsp
Eggs - 3 (well beaten)
Milk - 1/2 cup

Method:

  • Mix flour,sugar, baking soda, cinnamon and salt in a bowl.
  • Cut in shortening with knife until pieces are the size of rice kernels.
  • Mix in nuts, oats, and lemon peel.
  • Add eggs gradually, mixing thoroughly.
  • Mix in milk thoroughly.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls about 2' apart onto cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 375 F about 10 minutes or until delicately browned.
  • Cool on wire racks.
