Ingredients:
Rice - 500 gms
Tomatoes - 1 kg
Bay leaves - 2
Onion - 1 (chopped)
Green chillies - 2-3
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil - 1-2 tbsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp (optional)
Ginger - Garlic paste - 2 tsp
Method:
Rice - 500 gms

Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp (optional)
Ginger - Garlic paste - 2 tsp
Method:
- Soak the rice for 15 minutes
- Finely chop 3-4 tomatoes
- Make tomato puree from remaining tomatoes (boil tomatoes and remove skin and grind to make puree)
- Heat oil in big vessel, add bay leaf and cumin seeds fry for 1 minute
- Add chopped onions, chillies, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and cook until oil comes out.
- Add tomato puree, salt, chilli powder and cook in medium flame for five minutes
- Add rice and required water and cook till rice done. (to cook rice generally we add water in 1:2 proportion but here we are using tomato puree so we have to add less water than normal)
- Serve with chutney.
