Sweet and sour Chutney

Tamarind  - 50 gms
Jaggery - 60 gms
Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Sugar - 25 gms
Dried ginger powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - a pinch
Salt to taste
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp


  • Soak tamarind in hot water for 15 minutes then extract juice from it. Strain the juice, add 250 ml of water and bring it to boil.
  • Add jaggery and red chilli powder and cook for few minutes.
  • Add salt, sugar, garam masala, ginger and cumin powder.
  • Mix thoroughly and cook till it becomes thick.
  • Serve with snacks and chat.
