Kanda Pachadi (Yam Chutney)

Ingredients:
Kanda (Yam) - 250 gms
Red chillies - 25 gms
Tamarind -  small lemon size 
Salt to taste
Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
Garlic cloves - 5-6
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Oil - 2 tbsp

Method:


  • Boil, peel and mash yam and keep aside.
  • Fry red chillies in little oil. 
  • Grind red chillies, tamarind, salt and turmeric, cumin seeds and garlic to fine paste.
  • Add mashed yam and grind once.
  • Transfer to  bowl.
  • Heat oil in a pan,  add urad dal, mustard seeds and curry leaves. Fry till mustard crackles.
  • Pour this over chutney.
  • Serve with rice.
