Lemon Cake

Maida - 175 gm
Sugar - 90 gm
Butter - 70 gm
Curd - 1 1/4 cup
Baking powder - 2 tsp
Baking soda - 1 tsp
Lemon juice - 3 tbsp
Lemon peel - 1 lemon (grated)

Sugar - 3 tbsp
Lemon juice - 3 tbsp


  • Sieve twice maida, baking powder and soda together and keep aside.
  • Preheat oven to 190C.
  • Beat butter and sugar till frothy, add sieved flour alternatively with curd and lemon juice.
  • Add lemon peel and Mix well.
  • Pour into greased pan and bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or till the cake is done.
  • After removing from the oven, let it cppl in the tin for 10 minutes and then transferred to plate. Keep aside.
  • For the topping heat sugar and lemon juice over low heat, stirring continuously, till the sugar dissolves.
  • Pierce the top of the cake with fork and pour the prepared topping on top of the cake.
  • Cool the cake uncovered for 2 hours before cutting.
