MELE AL FORNO (BAKED APPLES)

Ingredients:
Apples - 4 (wiped and cored)
Seedless raisins - 50 gms
Sweet white wine - 120 ml
Grated lemon rind - 1/4 tsp
Castor sugar - 50 gms
Butter - 25 gms

Method:

  • Soak raisins in wine for 30 minutes.
  • Arrange apples in a shallow ovenproof dish.
  • Drain raisins (reserving wine) and mix with lemon rind and sugar.
  • Fill core holes with raisin mixture and top with a nut of butter.
  • Pour over the remaining wine.
  • Bake at 350 F for about 45 minutes.
  • Serve hot or cold.
