Shortening - 3 tbsp
Unsweetened chocolate - 50 gms
Egg yolks - 2 (well beaten)
Vanilla extract - 1 tsp
Sugar - 1 cup
All purpose flour - 1/2 cup
Chopped nuts - 1/2 cup
Egg whites - 2


  • Melt shortening and chocolate together in a large saucepan; cool
  • Stir in egg yolks, then extract, sugar, four and nuts.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff, not dry, peaks are formed. Blend into chocolate mixture.
  • Spread batter in a well greased 8*8*2 pan.
  • Bake at 350 F 30 minutes, or until a wooden pick comes out clean.
  • Cool completely before cutting.
