BANANA SPLITS

Ingredients:
large bananas -4
Whipping cream - 150 ml
Vanilla essence - 1 tsp
Castor sugar - 1 tsp
Vanilla ice cream - 600 ml

To decorate:
Walnuts - 50 gms(chopped)
chocolate flake bar - 1 (cut into matchstick lengths)
cherries - 8
Fan shaped wafers - 4

Method:
  • Put 4 oval dishes in the freezer compartment of the refrigerator to chill.
  • Whip the cream with the vanilla essence and sugar until standing in soft peaks, then spoon into a piping bag with a star nozzle.
  • Peel the bananas and cut each one in half lengthwise. Cut a slice off one end of the block of ice cream, to make the block the same length as the bananas. 
  • Cut the ice cream lengthwise into 4 even sized piece.
  • Place a length of ice cream in the centre of each chilled dish, then place half a banana on either side of each portion of ice cream. 
  • Pipe cream on top of the ice cream.
  • Place walnuts on both sides of the ice cream.
  • Put chocolate flakes over the cream, then decorate each serving with 2 cherries and one fan wafer.
  • Serve at once.
