SKIN PROBLEMS OF BABIES

Diaper Rash may irritate babies, we should take care of it. 

Reddish patches of irritation between a baby's legs or buttocks may be caused by urine in his diapers or bedding. This is common when plastic diapers are used.

Remedies:

1. Bathe the child daily with lukewarm water and mild soap.

2. To prevent or cure the rash, the child should be kept naked, without diapers, and he should be taken out into the sun.

3. If diapers are used, change them often. After washing the diapers, rinse them in water with a little vinegar.

4. Use talcum powder only after the rash is gone.

5. Do not use plastic diapers.

Health tip for anaemia:

Turmeric, being rich in iron, is valuable in anaemia. A teaspoon of raw turmeric juice mixed with honey is taken everyday in the treatment of this condition.

FRESH HERB SCONES

Ingredients:
All purpose flour - 2 cups
Whole wheat flour - 1/2 cup
Sugar substitute - 1-2 tsp
Baking powder - 2 tsp
Rosemary - 1 tsp (crushed)
Baking soda - 1 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Thyme - 1 tsp 
Oregano- 1 tsp
Butter- 1/4 cup
Egg- 1
Buttermilk- 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 400* Celsius. Combine first 9 ingredients in bowl.
  • Cut the butter into small pieces and work into flour mixture with food processor until blended.
  • In a separate bowl beat egg with buttermilk and stir into mixture.
  • Turn dough out on a floured board and knead for 2 minutes.
  • Shape into 2 thick circles,5 inches in diameter.
  • Cut each into quarters and place on lightly greased baking sheet with wedges about 1/2 inch apart.
  • Brush with reserved egg white. Bake for 15-20 minutes. Serve warm.

Take a potato, peel and grind with lemon juice to make paste and apply it on itchy boils on the skin gives effective relief.

6 HEALTH TIPS FOR THE HEALTHY GROWTH OF CHILDREN

1. Let the child daily drink the carrot juice mixed with little honey.

2. If the child is a weakling since birth, daily give small quantity of diluted grape juice.

3. Let the child daily drink sherbath made out of the juice of Sitaphal, sugar and water. The child will be strong and healthy.

4. Let the child sip and eat 2 gms of vayuvilang mixed with a little honey once every day. The daily quantity of vayuvilang may be 2 gms in the first month and increased by 2 gms every succeeding month. The child will permanently maintain good health, and no other medicines are necessary.

5 You can make your child learn spellings by pasting them on a piece of paper on either the mirror or wall or the dressing table. There will be a positive improvement  in his vocabulary.

6. For rickety children, give the juice of pomegranate.
