Toor dal - 1 cup
Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
Coriander & Cumin powder - 1 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp (optional)
Coriander leaves
Wheat Flour - 1 cup
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt to taste
Method:
- Soak and cook the dal.
- Chop onions and tomatoes
- Make a dough with wheat flour using water.
- Heat oil in a kadai.
- Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds and fry till mustard crackles.
- Add curry leaves, onions, tomatoes, ginger garlic paste and stir fry, till the oil floats.
- Add all spices and mix well.
- Add the cooked dal along with two cups of water and bring it to boil.
- Make a thin chapati with atta dough and cut into 1" long stripe pieces.
- Drop the stripes on to the boiling dal and cook until the stripes start floating on the surface of the dal.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve hot. This is a one meal dish and does not require anything else.
