KOTHAVARANGAI USILI

Ingredients:
Channa dal - 100 gms
Cluster beans - 400 gms
Cinnamon stick - 1"
Salt to taste
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Oil - 4 tbsp
Onions - 100 gms (chopped)
Green chillies - 3 (chopped)
Chilli powder - 2 tsp
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 2 tsp
Grated coconut - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Aniseed - 1/2 tsp
Urad dal  - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - few

Method:

  • Soak channa dal for one hour and grind with cinnamon, cumin seeds and salt.
  • Cut and boil cluster beans until tender.
  • Heat oil in kadai, add mustard, aniseed, urad dal, onions and saute. 
  • Add green chillies and curry leaves, chilli powder, turmeric and coriander powder and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add coconut and dal paste.
  • Add cluster beans and cook till dry.
