Ingredients:
All purpose flour - 2 cups
Baking powder - 3 tsp
ground cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
Apple - 1 cup (peeled and shredded)
Brown sugar - 2/3 cup
Walnuts - 1/4 cup (chopped)
Milk - 2/3 cup
Eggs - 2 beaten
Shortening - 1/4 cup (melted and cooled)
Whole wheat or bran flakes - 1 cup
Method:
All purpose flour - 2 cups

Method:
- Sift together first four ingredients and 1 tsp salt.
- Stir in apple, sugar, and nuts.
- Combine milk, eggs, and shortening; add all at once.
- Stir just to blend.
- Fold in cereal.
- fill greased muffin pans 2/3 full.
- Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Makes 12 muffins.
