Prunes – 450 gms
Boiling water – 1 l
Lemon slices -3
Sugar – 75-125 ml

  • ·         Cover prunes with the boiling water, add lemon slices. Simmer until tender (30-40 min),
  • ·         Add sugar, allow the liquid to return to a boil, lift out the fruit and continue to simmer the syrup if a thicker liquid is desired.
  • ·         Pour over the fruit, serve cold.

For Spiced prunes:

Add ½ cinnamon stick to the boiling water. Use as garnish for roast pork or a salad plate.
