Ingredients:
Pepper - 1 tsp
Red chillies - 6
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Channa dal - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Coriander seeds - 2 tsp
Asafoetida
Curry leaves
Oil - 2 tsp
Tamarind - small lime size
Salt to taste
For Talimpu:
Oil - 2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Urad dal - 1 tsp
Method:
Pepper - 1 tsp

Method:
- Fry pepper, red chillies, urad dal, channa dal, coriander seeds and cumin seeds in a little oil.
- When fried, add curry leaves, asafoetida and fry for few seconds.
- Grind all the fried ingredients along with tamarind and salt to make fine paste using enough water.
- Dissolve the ground paste in one litre water.
- Heat oil in a kadai; add mustard and urad dal and allow them to splutter.
- Add spice water and bring it to boil in low flame.
- Cook until the liquid is half.
- Serve hot with rice.
